EPAS is delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted in two categories at the Greater Newry Business Awards 2026 – Best Innovative Business and Best Green Business.
The double shortlisting is a fantastic recognition of our continued investment in environmental engineering, innovation and sustainable business practices, as well as the hard work of the entire EPAS team.
Innovation at the Heart of EPAS
Innovation has been central to EPAS since the company was established. Today, we invest approximately 6% of annual turnover in research and development, with new ideas progressing through design, prototyping, laboratory evaluation and customer trials before commercial implementation.
Recent developments include AI-assisted site surveys, remote telemetry, predictive maintenance, dissolved oxygen technology, capacitive sensing and IoT-enabled monitoring. These technologies are helping us make wastewater and FOG management smarter, more efficient and increasingly data-driven.
Our approach to innovation is already delivering measurable results. EPAS recorded a 14.68% increase in sales turnover, while our products are now exported to 32 countries, with international sales representing approximately 25% of annual turnover.
Building a Greener Business
Being shortlisted for Best Green Business is equally important to us.
Our environmental strategy is built around preventing pollution at source, reducing carbon emissions, recovering valuable resources and supporting the transition towards a circular economy. GreaseShield® and FilterShield® technologies remove FOG and food waste before these pollutants can enter drainage systems, helping protect wastewater infrastructure and local waterways.
Our commitment extends beyond the products we manufacture. EPAS has achieved ISO 14068-1 Carbon Neutrality and completed independently verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) across the GreaseShield® and FilterShield® ranges, providing transparent life-cycle environmental information.
At our facilities, we also use renewable electricity and photovoltaic solar generation, harvest rainwater for operational use and have introduced EV charging infrastructure alongside hybrid and electric vehicles.
Proud to Represent Newry
EPAS has grown from Newry into an internationally active environmental technology business while continuing to invest in skilled employment, engineering and manufacturing in the local area. Our award submission highlights the role this growth plays in strengthening Northern Ireland’s reputation for environmental engineering innovation.
Our supporting material also records 26 international awards over 17 years, alongside extensive international product certifications, a track record we are extremely proud to continue building upon.
The winners of the Greater Newry Business Awards 2026 will be announced at the Gala Awards Ceremony on Thursday, 24 September 2026, at the Canal Court Hotel & Spa, Newry.
To be shortlisted for both Best Innovative Business and Best Green Business is a proud achievement for everyone at EPAS.
We look forward to the awards night and wish all of this year’s finalists the very best of luck!
