Location: Stockport, England or Newry, Northern Ireland

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per year

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (Full-time, in-person role).

Role Overview: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Electronic Engineer to support the full lifecycle of electronic product design, development, and manufacturing. This is a pivotal role within the company, offering technical leadership across product development and supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Electronics Design & Development:

  • Design and develop analogue, digital, and mixed-signal PCB circuits.
  • Create schematics, layouts, and BOMs using industry-standard software.
  • Integrate sensors, wireless modules, and embedded controllers into product designs.

Manufacturing & Production Support:

  • Manage relationships with outsourced PCB assembly partners.
  • Provide technical oversight for prototypes and production builds.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and support UK-based final assembly and testing.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation including schematics, test procedures, and change records.
  • Ensure compliance with UKCA/CE, EMC, and other relevant standards.
  • Support product certification and quality assurance initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure designs align with business and product goals.
  • Contribute to risk mitigation strategies, including backup sourcing and continuity planning.

Key Requirements

  • First-class honours degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience in electronic design and development (commercial/industrial setting).
  • Proficient with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCAD, Eagle).
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems, power supply design, and communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, etc.).
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and PCB assemblers.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and quality standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.

Desirable Experience:

  • Embedded C/C++ or Python for firmware development or diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with online production platforms such as JLCPCB or similar.
  • Experience integrating sensors and low-voltage control systems.
  • Background in environmental, manufacturing, or automation industries.
